The truth about Good Friday.

When Truth died.

“I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.” — John 14:16
Good Friday is remembered around the world as the day that Jesus Christ was crucified.

The same Jesus who claimed that He was “the way, and the truth, and the life” was sentenced to death.

The One who claimed to be the very personification of Truth was nailed to a cross.

How does that work? How does Truth die?

Simple. Truth died so you wouldn’t have to. Truth died in your place. Truth was sacrificed so you could live.

You see, as a human being, you are born sinful, having inherited corruption from the first human beings, Adam and Eve, who rebelled against God. They were created perfect, in the image of God Himself. But when they disobeyed God, that image became distorted. The Bible has a name for this distortion — sin.

And The Bible also says that sin has only one reward — eternal condemnation and death.

Worse still, this sin has infected every human being causing every person to become an enemy of God. Meaning that instead of pursuing God, people seek to replace God with other things. Instead of worshipping the true God, they start to bow down to false gods of their own imagination.

That’s the power of sin. It sends man into a downward spiral from which he can never recover.

Unless God steps in.

And that’s what happened at Good Friday. God stepped in.

He stepped into the noose that was supposed to go around every human being’s neck. He paid the price for sin that He demanded from His own creation. And He did this by allowing His beloved Son to be crucified by sinful men.

Imagine that. The eternal, all-powerful, all-knowing, holy Son of God was left to die at the hands of finite, fallible, sinful men.

Why? For love.

The Bible states it beautifully — For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. — John 3:16

If you accept that your sin has run up a mountainous debt in the eyes of God, and if you accept that there is no way of escaping His punishment except to acknowledge that Jesus paid that debt for you, then your sin is forgiven!

There is no other way to earn the forgiveness of God that leads to eternal life. Either you accept that Jesus earned God’s forgiveness on your behalf by dying in your place to take the punishment that should have fallen on you.

Or you pay the price of your sins yourself.

Which option do you choose?

Jesus, THE Truth, died so that you can live forever with God. So that you can go from being His enemy to being His adopted child. So that your heart can be changed from rebellion to submission. So that the debt that you owe God can be wholly and completely cancelled and nullified.

How awesome is that!

God loves you enough to die for you so that He can rescue you.

Question is, do you love Him enough to respond in obedience?
there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved. — Acts 4:12

For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself as a ransom for all, the testimony given at the proper time. — 1 Timothy 2:5-6

Yours truthfully,
